Contest Brief

I need to develop a logo, website, design an appropriate "rack card" (single sided/vertical), "flyer/poster" (close to A4 216x279mm), & letterhead logo for a private label chorizo (Mexican cased sausage), to be launched in Australia.

Product: Mexican chorizo is a semi-fermented spiced sausage in a casing that is meant to be broken up and consumed as a mince. It is NOT known in Australia and is easily confused with Spanish (European) chorizo, which apart from being also pork, it is a very different product with the same name.

Logo: Hip. Prefer for it to readily identify with Mexico without getting into "Mexican stereotypes"; ie: mariachis, sombreros, cactus, pyramids, etc. though it is not necessarily a pre-requisite.

Flyer/Poster: Meant to be displayed by local independent butcher shops, grocers, and/or restaurants, advertising they carry a new authentic Mexican chorizo product. At a minimum it should convey: 1) New product 2) very versatile 3) Mexican and NOT like Spanish chorizo at all 4) high quality. However, it should be visual, but easy on the eyes, and readily "readable".

Rack cards: Meant to be given to patrons at local butchers and grocers, to be informative as to the varied uses of the versatile Mexican chorizo, with a prominent copy directing them to a website where the consumer can get more information. MOST importantly tell them that the chorizo is a new unique product not found in Australia AND that the website contains more than 30 recipes.

Brochure (2L-[4pgs]): Use the information from the attached introduction & rack cards pages to prepare a 2 page-folded brochure. The front will be a variation of the poster. Second page will be info from the rack card. Third page a list of the chorizo recipes available, and instructions directing to website for more. Fourth page (back) a history of the chorizo.

Website: Four pages.
1) Introduction page, with copy of the new company & product and history of chorizo.
2) Recipe page. I prefer buttons with a brief title for each recipe. As the button is pressed, the recipe expands. IF possible, visitors should be invited to leave comments for each recipe, improvements, etc.
3) Businesses carrying the product page. A list of businesses, with type, address, and phone number that currently carry the product, with 2 categories: grocers & butchers, and restaurants. Also include an invitation for restaurants to be listed if they carry the product.
First on the list of restaurants:
Taco Mafia 232A Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills, NSW, 2010 (02) 9512 9222
Casa Margarita 266 Debeyers Road, Pokolbin, NSW 2320 (02) 4998 7776
4) A Contact Us & Comments page.

Business cards with matching design

Of course, the logo should flow between all products and be appropriate to the industry. The website can take a bit more time to have completed but would like to have results for the flyer & rack cards much quicker.

I will provide all the copy to the recipes, the introduction for first page of the website, and some suggested copy for the flyers/brochure (though it may it altered as needed/suggested).

I require the ability to modify once I have the rights to the final product, but I do NOT own MS Publisher software, so I prefer an open format or Power Point.

The tagline is both: "Chorizo that will make your taste buds dance!" & "Real Food by Real Mexicans". (Somewhere in the print and in webpages).

Employer Feedback

“Great experience, very responsive, recommend without hesitation or reservations. Addressed all requirements and latent needs as well. Discovered some positive subliminal parts in logo too. Great! ”

The budget is effectively for a four page website design, logo, and 2 pg brochure. I have already given all the copy for each of the pages on the website and brochure. It only seems like a lot of work. Brochure designs are going for $40, logos for $30, business cards for $30, and websites for $100. I added an extra 25% ($50) to that amount. It is just putting it the basic website together and slapping the copy provided on it. The only real challenge is coming up with an acceptable logo design.

It would make more sense to choose a logo first instead of having a all the people design all the pieces.
