Disaster.com is being launched as a site that enables and fosters communications between individuals affected by, or interested in, disasters and crises. The domain has been owned since 1992 and we feel it's time to give back to the Internet community. There will be three primary components to the website - a message board/forum, a series of articles about disasters and crises, and a gallery for people to place appropriate pictures into. Down the road, we will also be creating a person finder application for use during disasters. The site will be about fostering communications between individuals, government, communities, businesses and others during disasters, and pre and post education about disasters.
Should be "soothing" in nature and not overly complex. Should be usable on embroidered shirts in addition to online and print (i.e. should not be really detailed). I'm a big lover of integrating design into typography, and of the choice of typography itself.
Topics of discussion on the site will include: recent disasters, how to help (donations, charities, volunteerism, employment), natural disasters (earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, etc.), regional conflict, terrorism, famine, biological and nuclear disasters, industrial and urban disasters, transport disasters (plane, trains, automobiles, etc.), personal disasters (home fires, power outages), preparing for a disaster, responding during a disaster and recovering from a disaster.
You'll need to provide your design in the following file types: AI, EPS, PSD, JPG
Preferably no more than two colors
Online (Website, online advertising, banner ads etc)
Print (Letterheads, business cards, t-shirts, mugs etc)
