Currently, the file (combined with the .htaccess file) redirects from URL 1 to URL 2. The construction of URL 2 depends on the variables set in URL 1. Everything to do with the construction of [URL 2] remains the same. But what I want to do now is use [URL 2] for the construction of [URL 3]. We are experiencing server strain from 30000 instances of a bot accessing our site. It's legitimate bots like Googlebot. Blocking bad bots via the htaccess file does not seem to work. Update: It appears from the newest information that our website was hacked and a few pages were injected with some code that was detected by the server antivirus scan. We restored the site from a previous version and the code is gone. This would explain how someone was able to submit their site in such a way that Google believes they have to send their Googlebot to our site for crawling. In monitoring the console log in my browser, I see that a number of 404 error while trying to load the resource (CSS, JS, or image) because the path is incorrect. The files will be found if I go to directory in my browser, however, as stated, I want to hide the "dir" folder from the public user while still being able to retrieve the files.
