The WebApp registrar I need is pretty simple. We need a field to check domain name availability (like a normal registrar). After people find a name they like we ask for a tweet link which will show their Twitter name having been updated to something like [name registered].bit. We also ask for a Namecoin address, generated by the Electrum Namecoin wallet (I'll produce a video tutorial for this). Once the link is produced (and verified automatically) the system registers and transfers the name using the existing Electrum software. Most of the heavy work is being done by Electrum-NMC. As you can see here the backend work is more than 70% done:
