I'm an academic working on engineering software that looks at specialised images (might be from an ordinary camera, but might be from specific medical instruments) and compares them with a database. I have C code that does this, and am in the process of getting this into a web-app and producing a website, so people can upload their data to the website and have the comparison done.
I have two related Android apps I want to have written - I need to apply for a grant from a funding body for this - I think this should be done by a professional, not hacked together by me. So I need ball-park estimates of how much money this is going to cost, so I can apply for funding for it.
A very simple app, which runs on an Android tablet. The app allows the user to log in (the service requires you set up a userid), specify an image on the hard drive, and to enter some metadata, and then this file is uploaded to the central server (possibly after processing it with some C code of mine, that will need to be modified to compile and run on Android I guess). When the analysis is done, based on a response from the server, I want the app to display one of a few results (your photo is of type A,B,C…), and give a link that will allow the
user to look at more data on the browser.
As app 1, but for a specialised user (e.g. a doctor, who cares just about whether the image shows signs of a specific disease), so the user-interface
would show something slightly different on successful completion.
In both cases, I would want the app to conform to the same graphic design as the main website (which is not yet written!).
Finally - since these apps don't do anything too clever with location services or bluetooth or whatever, I wondered if it was possible to write them in such a way that they would run on both iPads and Android tablets.
