I am looking to design an application that will help people with tinnitus (ringing in the ears). There are apps like this elsewhere available, but none are really complete (so far...). I am an Ear Nose and Throat physician with an interest in this area, and would like to take advantage of the iPhone's portability for a mobile solution. This app needs the following functions: 1) Timer (this may be easy - I don't have any iphone programming skills) 2) Tone generator - I need to be able to produce a pure tone. I don't know what the iphone is capable of for tones (in Hertz or cycles per second). Typical hearing tests range from 256 Hz to 8192 Hz. I would probably need a range of 100 - 10000 Hz, with a volume slider. 3) White noise generator - I see a lot of noise generators in apps - Not sure if this is recorded sound or generated sound - with a volume slider. 4) Need some animation to describe tinnitus, not just in text... That would be the crux of needs. I think if the tones and noises can be generated, the rest is a piece of cake. Thanks - let me know if anyone is interested. I like the customizable aspect the iphone can produce. However, there might be a way to make this a website application as well that someone can download to their MP3 or ipod. R |
