Our website was originally designed and set up in 2 weeks by one of the partners using FrontPage. The partners had other bigger projects and the manager was not savvy enough and let the hosting contract expire. The partners also changed the domain name and did not renew the original domain name! After 3 months we managed to get a copy of the original website from over 2 years ago. Now it is so outdated in terms of design and content it needs a total redesign and update as if starting from scratch. The site is bringing in customers even as it is. However as the new manager it is my job to revitalize the marketing program. My main concentration is on the website and search engine optimization plus direct email marketing. I want our website and our business to be the top in our field and region. We are based in Asia Pacific and are in the business of scuba diving professional instructor training, dive resort management and operations training. You need an interactive site to both publicize your activities and facilitate communication among your partners and students throughout the region.
- The design element should reflect a clear understanding of your target market.
Currently the site needs a conceptual design that can be integrated with your company id.
- Your site needs to be managed and regularly updated with prices, information, destinations, courses on offer etc. You may want to decide whether you require an online content manager, or to outsource
as part of a maintenance agreement.
- The use of informative email newsletters would also aid in achieving your objective.
- You may also want to consider implementing an online message board or forum. Instructors and Students could utilize this facility to discuss diving techniques,
exam and course questions.
- Perhaps an online database, listing student details by region and skill category, could be incorporated to facilitate the employment process.
In my opinion, a project of this nature must be well planned and possibly developed over a period of time, not
rushed.
