I have a piece of hardware that needs to be controlled with software, some screen scraping and about 5 to 10 commands need to be executed. I am flexible with language and platform but ideally I would like it to run on Linux for stability purposes. I would if possible like it client / server type set up but that can be developed later. I have done initial research and have determined the connection speeds, and the polynomial check sum.

I am very interested in this project -- it sounds quite interesting, and well within my abilities, as someone who does embedded systems development for a living :-).
