I require simple 3D CAD models to be drawn and the files returned to me in .dxf , .stl and a format suitable for others to view in the free version of Google Sketchup.
The models are of a railway skip wheel base and various tops to fit onto the skip base. These are required as part of 3d printer test. The model needs to reflect the requirements of the 3d printing process to ensure the best quality outcome when printed. The idea is to produce a small set of model components which fit together to form the completed model i.e. the chassis frame, axels boxes, wheels and various tops. These parts are to be drawn & printed separately but will be fitted back together to form the final model.
Whilst the 3d printing process has limitations, your models need to reflect where possible the prototypical surfaces (iron, wood etc) and need to be detailed enough with rivets and bolts etc, to make them look like detailed models similar but not necessarily exactly the same as the original. The model needs to be in 16mm:1 foot (G Scale) with the wheel axel supporting a 45mm wide railway track. The wheel needs to be a tight fit on a 3mm diameter steel axel rod to be fitted in post printing assembly.
Drawing Outputs Required:
1 – Skip frame – needs to be approx. 65mm in width to accommodate required axel width (note different to drawing of the original)
2 – Wheel to fit 3mm steel axel
3 – Axel box (to house 3mm steel axel) to fit into a tight slot on the underside of the skip frame. The slot fixing will become a standard feature of future designs
4 – Tipper frame
5 – Tipper bucket
6 – Flat wagon top (See picture)
7 – Single plank top (See picture)
Once the job is awarded, I will make contact with you to finalise the brief, provide dimensions for certain parts and give you more pictures. If your work and the 3d print trial delivers a positive result, there will be ongoing work, starting with additional tops for the skip and the design of a small locomotive and locomotive chassis to follow.
