Generate a small simulation for use on an iPad: the simulation concerns the control of a large supermarket chiller, the scenario is that the subject is acting as a manager of a supermarket, the chiller automatic control has failed though there is a manual backup which allows the thermostat to adjust the temperature back to the optimum. The problem is the temperature adjustment has no scale on it so the subject has to find the appropriate point on the input to maintain a temperature of +4C, at the start of the simulation the chiller temperature is +14C and the stock will go bad if immediate corrective action is not taken. The only data the subject has is the current temperature in the chiller and the time remaining to solve the problem, (the time is limited to 10 minutes).
The simulation would consist of four screens:
1. Subject Data Entry (Age, Profession, M/F, etc)
2. A 'training screen' which allows the subject to understand the control they have available and experiment with the input.
3. The actual simulation which will consist of a Increase/Decrease control, a digital temperature output from the chiller and a target temperature indication.
4. Graphical display of the results which can be saved into a file for research analysis.
The issue that the subject has to deal with is inertia, the chiller is a very large system and initial inputs to correct the high temperature have very little effect, once the system gets going, the temperature drop is dramatic and typically a degree of over-controlling takes place.
The software has already been created in Pascal, the input /output loop has been created, the graphics will be created by myself with the required .png files. All I need is a software writer to translate the Pascal code into Xcode compatible format to ensure bug free operation. The Apple developer fees would be my responsibility.
