This will be a short laptop buying guide (probably about 5,000 - 6,000 words) explaining the basics in VERY SIMPLE language for non-techie types. In other words, this is a guide that your non-techie sister or your relatively clueless neighbor could understand and put to use.
There should be two basic parts to the guide -- the first part will be a simple explanation of different things they should look at when buying a laptop -- screen (size and quality), keyboard, battery, memory, etc.
In the second part you will need to make 9 recommendations for different laptops to buy -- 3 on the high end of the scale, 3 in the middle, and 3 at the low end of the scale. For each laptop you recommend, you should give one or two sentences specific to that laptop on all the points you covered in the first section of the guide.
For example, let's say you recommend Laptop XYZ on the high end. You will then go through and give a sentence or two about all the different points:
1. Screen size
5. etc., etc.
Again, there are two main things to keep in mind with this guide. It needs to be in VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND English (don't overwhelm them with tech jargon), but it also needs to arm them with enough information that they can buy the right laptop for their needs.
Again, think of VERY PATIENTLY helping someone you know and want to help (a friend, a family member, a neighbor, a co-worker). You need to translate the tech specs into everyday language. For example, when you go over hard drive memory, give the numbers, but also say what that means. Does a light user need 3 TB of memory? Probably not. Say what a light user would be fine with, what an average user would be fine with, and what a heavy user would need.
I will have a few more details for the chosen writer. Also, if this goes well, there are other similar type guides I will need written. Perhaps later there will also be a position for a regular blogger.
