Project Description:
Sensor Network Map Display Application
We are developing a Wireless Sensor Network application that collects environmental data from various sensor nodes. The data collected will then be displayed onto a map, and users can get warning if some of the parameters are out-of-range.
You are required to write a cross-platform application that connects to the Serial Port of a PC running on Windows Vista (32bit) or Linux (CentOS 5.4). The application will receive ASCII data from the RS232 Serial Port of the PC and plot “Placemarks” and display location data onto map applications like Google Map, Google Earth or Open Street Map, using a KML file.
Project Highlights:
Host Operating System: Windows Vista or later versions AND CentOS 5.4
Programming Language: Python 2.7.x
I/O: Virtual RS232 Serial port provided by FT232R FTDI Virtual
Comport Convertor Chip
Database: MySQL 5.0+ Community Version
The Application is divided into a few parts:
1. Serial to Database Connector
2. Database to KML Convertor
3. Web-based KML Loader
