Excel Database for Order Processing
We require a custom program to suit our needs as we cannot find one that does exactly what we require. We wish to automate the processing of our orders, based on specific requirements and restraints.
About the Company
We are a subscription-based company that sends randomly awesome socks every month to customers across the US.
Our wishes and constraints:
We have the unique luxury of being able to send our customers random socks each month. This makes business easy when it comes to things like inventory, but makes things much more difficult and time consuming when it comes to processing orders. Therefore, we need a system that can randomly generate new orders for our customer(s). However, there are very specific and important restraints we need built in to this database. The system has to generate new orders based on what we have in stock, gender/size of the customer, and what the customer has received in the past (i.e., no duplicate socks). In addition we need the flexibility to add other restraints/variables in the future (e.g., color, pattern, preference...etc)
You will find more information and examples in the attached document
- The Excel database will consist of 3 essential databases, which will cross reference each other to generate a single order: Inventory database, customer database, and order history database.
- Each customers order (sock) will be restrained by specific variables: Gender/size, stock availability, and order history (what the customer has already received).
- We need to ability to add more variables in the future, as needed. E.g., pattern, style, material...etc
- We will need to be able to export the orders to a csv, in order for us to send to our warehouse for processing.
How the final result should work:
In a nutshell, our employee would begin by uploading and updating the inventory, and adding new customers. They would then indicate which customers are in need of new orders this week (renewals occur at different times each month. Also, subscription begin and end at different times each month). The system would then generate all new orders accurately, and the employee would export a csv to send to our warehouse for processing.
