Requirements
We are seeking home-based transcriptionists who have great attention to detail and are able to work at home with no supervision as an independent contractor. High personal ethics and a command of the English language are a must. The jobs we normally have include, but are not limited to; general transcription, legal transcription, interview transcription, focus groups, conference calls, etc. The requirements for this job are:
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word and Express Scribe
o All work must be done in Microsoft word, Express Scribe is what our typist use, but if you use a different audio tool, that is fine.
• Ability to follow our guidelines for formatting
• Ability to navigate the internet
o We upload our files to employees using a website called “Dropbox” [login to view URL]
• Exceptional communication skills
• Ability to proof your documents with a 95% accuracy
• Exceptional time management skills; ability to turn in every assignment by the assigned deadline
• Typing ability of 65+ words per minute
o As a general rule, we expect employees to be able to do 1 minute of audio in 3 minutes, so a 30 minute file should take approximately 90 minutes.
• Experience in the transcription field
• MUST have Skype
o This is how we communicate with our typist on a daily basis. Without this, you are guaranteed to not receive work.
• Transcription foot pedal and good headphones is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
o Some have tried to do this without the foot pedal, and none have been successful. Not having a foot pedal will put you towards the bottom of our pile of resume’s.
Additional Information
Testing is required for this position. We will send a test file with a deadline you must complete it by. If you pass the rigorous testing, we can continue with employment. We retain the right to dismiss any employee that misses a deadline, no exceptions. Starting pay for this position will start out at $0.05 per audio minute. Exceptional files along with meeting deadlines or returning files well before the deadline will give you the possibility of receiving bonuses in very little time. Our turnaround times vary from 4 hours to 48 hours, depending on the job. The times will be communicated prior to accepting the job.

Hi! I'm an undergraduate student of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I have a few experience on transcription. I don't use Express Scribe but I am much comfortable with Adobe Audition or Soundbooth where I can somehow edit the audio so it will be more audible.
