I have considered the attached document and believe I can deliver on all requests.
As you have laid out in your sample document, it seems your problems would need to be solved one at a time. I have addressed each below:
Problem 1: Getting company name listed next to each metric.
- This should prove fairly easy if “company name” is always the first metric listed for each symbol.
Problem 2: Net Income (Profit Statement) or Net Income (Cash Statement)
- Again, it should be fairly easy to search for the existence of “Profit Statement” or “Cash Statement” prior to the listing of each “net-income” item, and therefore classify the net income listing properly.
Problem 3: Reorganizing the data.
- As long as you have a list of all available metrics in the order that you want, and the metrics are each labeled the same (i.e. MARKET CAP is always MARKET CAP, and not MARKET CAPITALIZATION sometimes and MARKET CAP, other times), re-ordering the results into such the same order should not be of issue either.
-Finally, once all items are re-ordered and labeled properly, the new metrics/formula lines can be added/calculated (problem 4) in their proper positions to complete the data set.
To test the functionality, you could send me a small data sample, I could create a macro that outputs the sample results as requested, and if so, you can then test the macro on a full data file to see if all completes as requested on a full set of data.
Will be awaiting your reply.
Thanks,
Shaun
