For a new radio format by Radio Netherlands Worldwide (the Dutch World service) the Africa desk is looking for a design of a banner. The banner will be used on Facebook and possibly our website. The program will be targeted at a young audience in eight African countries: Ivory Coast, Nigeria, South Sudan, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, DR Congo and Zimbabwe. The audience is in the age between 15 - 30 years old. So the design should look 'young' and 'fresh'.
The radio format for which the banner is for is called 'My Song', and this format musicians tell their personal story behind one of their tracks. For example, what are the ‘Politiqx’ that Ugandan singer Irene Ntale is frustrated by? What experience with the police made Nigerian rapper Ikon produce his song ‘Bastard’? ‘My Song’ brings the story behind the track.
Since the 1st of January 2013, Radio Netherlands Worldwide has a new mandate, that focuses on 'Freedom of Expression' (widely interpreted) in the mentioned countries in Africa and a number of other countries in the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America and China.
Attached is a sketch of what we would like to design to look like.
