I need a graphic designer with very good CSS skills and a working knowledge of jQuery UI themes to work on the look and feel of a web applicaton which allows the user to monitor and control machinery on large luxury yachts. The application will run in both desktop and mobile browsers.
Look and feel should be defined using CSS within the jQuery themes framework. Each instance of the application will have a theme switcher (dropdown box?) allowing the user to choose different colour schemes for example for day and night vision.
The application comprises round and rectangular gauges, tabbed panels, tree views, event lists etc, buttons and switches etc, updated in real time using AJAX calls.
Example panels will include:
1/ Main Engine control panel, showing gauges, start/stop button etc
2/ Fuel and Water tank panels showing vertical level gauges for some tanks, a three position switch for operating a pump.
3/ A bilge alarm display showing top view of the vessel layout and which compartments contain water
User interface elements should be stylish but simple, sober and clear. Colours should be used sparingly and have clear meanings - such as Red for alarm, orange for warning, green for good.
The application's working name is "Flow" - partly for its association with water, partly to convey a sense of information flowing around a vessel and partly the state of concentration that exists when everything is going right. There should be a simple graphical symbol which can appear at various points in the application - possibly animated on the opening screen.
While this brief is for a fixed contract, ideally I am looking for someone who would be interested in working with me to develop this project further in the future.
