Hell Creek Sanitarium LLC is looking for a Graphic Designers!
HCS is a start-up online publishing company start-up for speculative fiction, role-playing games, and comics/graphic novels. We are looking for at least a one year contractor/consultant relationship with someone with a trial period consisting of one or two projects to check for compatibility. This professional relationship can last longer if both parties agree, but we are willing to provide a product to work on every month for at least a year if you are willing to commit to accomplishing the work for at least a year.
The Graphic Designer (GD) will create layouts of the products for publishing in the Adobe InDesign program from templates so knowledge of that software program is a must. Especially since the each product will be saved in PDF, ePub, and MOBI formats for download to both computers and devices such as tablets and phones. The GD will also be required to insert watermarks as well as ensure other proper security features are engaged.
We use templates for each type of product, but the GD will need to be creative enough to create new templates using their own creativity as well as have the ability to take direction. This person will also have input as to what artwork should be in each of the products as well as interface with HCS consulting artists. The templates would be for both gaming and fiction products such as Mongoose’s Traveller the Role-Playing Game (RPG). We have a license to publish items in their Foreven Sector. Having comic book lettering and printing experience is certainly a plus.
Most templates already have a set infrastructure and so will require you to follow that theme for the layout. When creating new templates the GD should be willing to follow a set infrastructure, but create new themes for the templates (new fonts, styles, colors, etc.). It would not take long for the right GD to create each individual product. This is definitely a part-time gig.
In addition to offering credit and a short bio on the publisher's web page for each product, we are able to offer compensation for completed products both upfront (payment per item) and back end (percentage of sales for a year following publication). Compensation will depend on the length of the product and whether a special template is needed, but would typically range from $25 plus 2% of sales for a short product up to 50 pages to $100 plus 5% of sales for a product of between 150 and 200 pages. Each additional 50 pages on top of that would pay an additional $25 and an additional 1% of sales.
We can discuss the payment structure in more detail if you’re interested. Thanks
