I am currently seeking someone to become a freelance graphics designer for a t-shirt clothing line I plan to contract out to be screen printed locally.
I have contacted a local screen printer and the information I gathered from him in regards to the format for the artwork is as follows.
1) All designs should be done in up to a maximum of 6 different colors.
2) All colors should be from a Pantone color swatch.
3) All designs must be done in a vector format. Either in Corel Draw (.cdr) or Adobe Illustrator (.ai).
4) All fonts must be included with any art work emailed to me so I can email it to him for screen making.
Each design done by a professional in this industry shouldnt take long at all. My screen printer is willing to create designs for the approval stage at a rate of 2-6 per hour depending on the detail involved. I would expect the same output from who ever is the winning artist.
Once you get that part out of the way, I can help you with the rest. What I am looking for is some basic t-shirt designs. The screen printer I hired has an art department, but his company becomes the sole owner of any designs his art department creates. I can not have that be the case on this clothing line. So who ever wins the bid (or anyone who just bids on it) on this project is fully understands the following disclaimer.
By sending me any artwork, you transfer the ownership and all rights to the artwork to me and will receive not royalties from the images. You are hired to create the art, and once its sent to me its mine for use in any manor I see fit.
Anything that is sent that is part of your past portfolio is not included in this, but anything you send me that is part of the project will be. Basically, im hiring you to design for me and the art you create becomes my property. If you want to discuss this further and have a better plan or deal we can talk about that once the winning artist is selected.
Information on the types of designs I would like you to create are as follows.
Each design is a pro-union shirt. They are going to be worn by union members of all construction trades so I dont want any trade specific shirts (for example: no shirts directly for an electrician or a plumber).
Each shirt is going to be sold to American customers so use of the American flag, the term and words USA, United States, America(n), are ok. The use of an eagle is ok. The use of a map of the USA is ok.
Here is a few links to a few designs that are along the lines of what we are trying to do. While some of these are stickers, the idea is the same.
Basically we are looking for some new designs for some pro-union t-shirts. If you think you can handle this type of stuff, please send me some of your past work. I need some things to look at to see if youre able to handle the task. Also, if you could tell me how long it took you to create some of your prjects, that will help me gauge if youre right for the position. I can not hire someone who takes an hour or two to put togther two lines of text, and an image in the middle.
I am willing to pay one of two ways.
I can pay you by the hour.
I can pay you by the accepted design.
In the beginning, I guess the best thing to do is pay you by the accepted design. I guess the salary will range from $10-$25 depending on how long it takes to create. If it takes you an hour, I have no problem paying you $25 for the work creating it. If you create a nice, fast one color design and can make 4-5 an hour i can pay you $10 per design so its like $40-$50 an hour.
So submit your portfolio for consideration and lets get this show on the road !!
