Pirate’s Booty is a new game for tablets where the player assumes control of a mighty pirate whose only task in life is to steal loot and amass more treasures. Along the way, the player will have to fight and loot his way through the many isles of the world as he crashes his ship into each and everyone of them in search for the legendary treasure known to be located on an island... somewhere. The game itself is a roguelike, meaning that it’s a turn-based dungeon crawler RPG where the player and enemies take turns moving and doing actions on a rectangular grid. The player, and the enemies, can move, and attack, horizontally and vertically.
The tone we’re going for is humorous, and a bit on the grotesque side. The island settings is tropical, with palms, coconuts and beaches. Think Pirates of the Caribbean.
The game is viewed top-down, and a bit from the side. Just like in Dungeons of Dreadmor. However, we have decided that no entites or objects should go beyond the tile it is on. That is, all objects in the world should be no more than 100x100 pixels big, as that is the size of the tiles. This is because of technical difficulties with drawing things above and below each other.
Because of this, we will need pictures and animations of the player character and enemies from all 4 directions. This is not necessary for the tiles, as they are completely flat, and can be simply be rotated. We need approx. 200 images.
The full screen size is 768x1024, as with the iPad 2. As this is a game for tablets we have chosen to base it on iPad 2’s resolution.
