Project: children's book illustrations.
Subject: following the exploits of a bear, as he begins his travels around the world.
Volume: approx 20 illustrations for this first book; other books expected in the series.
Type: open to suggestions. Precise, colour, perhaps 12x12cm.
Deadline: flexible, open to agreement.
Budget... as with all new authors, very limited.
I'm hoping to find an artist with good, reliable, professional communication skills. The artist should be efficient at communicating via e-mail and Skype. Ideas for the pictures will be provided and I'll be happy to discuss the artist's needs in order to optimise the work. Ideally, the illustrations will be produced on computer with graphics software. However, this is not a requirement. Paintings, drawings, and other forms of illustration will be considered. I'd like to be able to see work-in-progress, so a shared storage location would be useful, e.g. scanned images on Google Drive. It would be really useful if the artist could provide a link to his/her online portfolio as well as testimonials.
This is an exciting project with potential. Several books are planned, so I hope to find one artist who is happy to provide consistent work for all publications.
Thank you for your interest in this project!

Thanks very much to all of you who have bid for this project. Here is further information:
Attached are two sample images from different artists. The images I'd like to have are something like these samples. Distinguishing points:
- pastel or non-glaring colours
- coloured areas to be patterned/shaded, not just shape-filled with one uniform colour
- few straight lines
- full pictures (i.e. not just characters)
- precisely drawn characters that have appeal (they must be represented consistently in each image)
I hope this clarifies what I'm looking for.
