Our company presently operates a website which hosts an Internet based school for an on-line community of members. The site was originally developed with a public area and forum; a members’ area with a forum and private messaging capabilities between members. We also have a member’s database and user’s profiles with a certain number of optional features. Course material in our members’ area is organized according to grade in .html form. We also have on-line tests required for members to move on to more advanced course material. Notably missing, and much needed, are an on-site chat and blogs for our members. We wish to develop these and other features that will help to create more of a sense of community. Therefore we are beginning a major re-development of our site and improvement of its existing architecture. The re-development implementation provides for two expansions of our existing site. Firstly, we shall open a second “school” that will that will appear to be a separate site, yet nonetheless shares the same functions and architecture with our existing site. Each “school” will have its own distinct look, members area, forums, course material, tests, etc. We would like to be able to access this second sub-site via web-link to the original site as well as independently. Secondly, we shall implement a “meta” level in our public area, that will give the appearance of a third site. This is a free on-line community where members can create their own special interest, membership groups with their own forums, etc. much like is already happening at Yahoo! groups or on tribe.net. The “public” areas (forums, etc.) of our two “schools” will actually be integrated parts of this “meta-site” as two such groups from the very beginning. We would also like to implement an administrative interface on the parent site to allow for ad-hoc changes to web-site templates, add function buttons, manage user access and related changes to the sites as well as promote independence from hard coding methodologies in the future. We are searching for a senior .jsp developer to complete this entire project for us. You also need strong database and architecture skills, and a fair amount of design skill as well, as we prefer to work with one versatile person from start to finish. There will be a minimal amount of oversight from a project manager from our organization, merely to ensure that we are getting what we are paying for as along the way and to ensure deliverables are completed in a timely manner. Only bids that state an HOURLY rate will be considered, as it is difficult for you to realistically bid entire project without seeing our existing architecture, libraries, etc. |
