Project Description:

We have a web platform that at one point prints out a document personalized for the user that has requested it. The document
is drawn via HTML to the browser already, so we just need to invoke printing of that browser page.

We want to control the number of copies of the document, and we want a solution that is cross-browser and cross-platform.

Here are the basics of what we needs to do:

1) Return a list of current system printers back to the browser
2) Allow the browser to select which printer to print to (prints to system default if not specified)
3) set number of copies
4) Remove web browser header & footers
5) Print contents of a web page silently (no dialog box)
6) Communicates with server indicating that printing has occured


We have looked into solutions such as:

(http://jsprintsetup.mozdev.org/)

The first one only works for IE, and the second one for Firefox only and isn't fully Mac compatible

We are looking for either a javascript or a java-applet based solution
