This project application is a database application which can be used to enter, edit and display details of employees in a firm and also can be used to obtain the salary of each employee by considering the normal time he worked, overtime, public holidays, weekends, annual holiday payments, tax deductions etc.
This project is aimed at the computerisation of payment system in a nursing home which employs 100 staff belonging to various departments. Currently the payment system is managed manually where an administration staff will compute the total hours worked and extra benefits and tax and the payslip is given on request. As this process is very tiring the management decided to computerise the payment section as part of their computerisation of the whole system in the nursing home. My aim is to provide them with a desktop database application that generates a payslip and details of employees regularly on a monthly basis.
This project is done for the computerisation of payment system in a nursing home which consists of employees belonging to various departments such as management staff, nursing staff, carer staff, household staff, kitchen staff, administration staff, activity staff, hairdresser, entertainer, massager, physiotherapist, occupational therapists, specially trained staff for mentally disabled, staff in Alzheimer’s’ section etc. Each type of employees get a basic salary and also they get extra payments based on the section they work and are given additional 100% extra for working on public holidays and 50% extra for working on weekends and 25% extra to all employees who don’t work on public holidays due to roster off days. Their payments are also deducted marginally for not working on weekends and public holidays intentionally without explanation. The employees are also given extra benefits based on their benefits in the form of salary hike or bonus during Christmas which is decided by the management. All managements staff gets fixed monthly salary and are not eligible to get extra payments for public holidays and weekends as they don’t work on those days. All other employees are given hourly salary and salary varies based on their performance and not on their job title.
This project can become a part of the huge software application of nursing home which comprises of details of residents and their payments and day to day activities like medication details, payment details, doctors details, personal details, physical condition details, diet etc.
In this application all the details of employee are entered like name, address, gender, communication details, educational details, references, garda vetting details etc and can be used to retrieve all the details about the employee including his performance during a period and also to calculate his monthly salary based on the hours he worked there. Only director and administrator are allowed to edit or modify payment details of the employee. Other staff can view the salary details and personal details only if permitted by the director or administrator. The person who uses this application will be director, assistant director, administrator and management staff. No other staff are allowed entry into the application as they are not allowed to use this application and are allowed to use their part of application like residents’ details, diet details, physical details, day today activities details, etc. based on their work.
The administrator and director enter all the details of an employee or a new employee to the data base and are stored in the database. Database can be accessed by all the management staff however; certain data can be retrieved only by certain management staff only based on the position.
