Project Description:
We have a small electronics repair shop and require software to help keep track of our customers and the items they entrust to us for repair. There are some off the shelf software solutions out there but they seem far more complicated than we need. For our purposes, to start off we just need a basic customer/work order tracking system. You can probably imagine what the software should look like but hopefully the following basic description will help you to make a fairly accurate bid.
The software would be pretty straightforward. When a customer comes into the shop we want to be able to look him up by telephone number, last name, first name or work order number. The customer information should be displayed along with his work order history and details. If this is the first time the customer is visiting our shop and is not in our database we need to be able to enter his information. Then we need to be able to create a work order or edit the existing ones by entering information regarding the particular repair/s that we will be doing or have done.
We will clearly specify for you the fields required for the customer and repair/work order tables. If it helps we can design and maintain an SQL database for the application so that the winning developer has to only design the front end.
Some other functions that would help:
Print a standard receipt to give to the customer documenting the work order at the time it is entered.
Lookup work orders by flag (open, completed, etc…)
Whatever language you prefer to use is just fine but please specify that in your bid.
