I am working with a new client, a small UK-based software house that has come up with a nifty little windows app that streams content from UK radio stations out of the browser - www.getmybumper.co.uk .This was launched with little or no fanfare about 6 months ago and is a side project for the developer.
I've come on board essentially as the Product Manager - and am now looking at ways to get it out there and noticed by the masses. Suffice to say that a number of projects will be required to get where we want to be, the first of which involves re-engineering the existing website.
I'm not sure about the history around the existing website, but having set it up as an SEOMOZ campaign, what I do know is that it appears to perform poorly on most parameters. Firstly: There are issues with duplicate site content and page titles, and when I audited the site using Chrome Console, a number of warnings and recommendations came up. URL structure probably needs to be shortened and optimised for keywords as well. Secondly: We need to seed tags and content with keywords (which I'm working on at the moment.)
That's it as far as the scope of this project goes. I've attached some an on-page issue overview, and example keyword report from SEOMOZ to give you a better idea of what needs to be done. Essentially I'm hoping you will check the site out for yourself and come back to me with some suggestions.
Hopefully you're out there thinking that this sounds like a cakewalk. I am no expert at web engineering, and really need to find a partner who can work with me on this, who can just get on with the work and join me for an occasional Skype update. I'm based in NZ so it may pay to consider the time difference as well. I'd really prefer someone who has an excellent command of English, as the success of this project will hinge on you and I being able to communicate as well as possible.
The existing (fixed) website will only have a limited lifespan of a few months. The next step will be a Wordpress build which I feel we will need in order to get a blog and a more attractive site, and then we can really get some decent content humming. Thus if you are any good with Wordpress that would be a huge benefit going forward if you want ongoing work. I have a few concurrent contracts here in NZ and am always looking for talented folk who can help bridge my huge skill gaps :-)
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
