Project Description:
We are looking for a Ruby On Rails expert (preferably HTML5 video streaming/encoding expert too)! We're a small growing startup and we need this done by the end of this weekend so you need to show you can handle all aspects of the job to take this on.
Worst Case: we find a great developer to just handles this project. Best Case: we find a rockstar developer to join our team.
We already have a working application with a few users which allows users to log in, and stream their videos from their account. The videos are all stored in Amazon's S3. We also use signed URL's for secure streaming. Currently, all videos need to be uploaded manually to one S3 bucket and then added manually from the application's Admin user side into the correct end user's video streaming account.
So here's what we need:
1. Partner video upload.
We want to create a type of user (called "partner") which can log in to our app and be able to create a new ("end user"), and upload videos for end users that the partner has added into the system. The partner must then be able to see a list of all end users that the partner has added, though not delete end users or end users videos. The partner should be allowed to upload any video format for the end users by encoding everything to Mp4 through http://www.pandastream.com/docs/integrate_with_rails (got a better suggestion than Panda that doesn't cost by the minute/Gb? let us know). And then after encoding Pandastream puts all Mp4 files in S3.
2. Video thumbnails.
We use LongTailVideo's JW Player to allow for HTML5 streaming with a fallback to Flash. What we don't have now is video thumbnails. We want the end user who sees its videos in its account to see a screenshot taken from the video (just like youtube and many others have) instead of just the black box with a play button.
3. Locking all but 1 of the videos added by the partner, for end users.
A partner will upload everything from 1-20+ videos into an end user's account. We need for the first uploaded video to be 100% available for viewing through the end user's account, while all the remaining videos uploaded must be listed and seen in the end user's account but not able for viewing. These additional videos however, must be unlockable by pressing a button. This button will open a quick (I guess Javascript) window enabling the user to choose which of all locked videos to unlock. Then depending on the amount of videos chosen, pay $X/per video using PayPal/Credit Card. When the payment returns success, the chosen videos will be unlocked and able for viewing just like the first uploaded video has been.
If you feel you're up for the task, drop your bid here immediately as we need this done by Monday. We look forward to working with you!
