For cycling numerical text to be displayed organically within the HTML text of a published story, giving a more dynamic, graphic aspect to the work than a static figure, e.g. $999.999.999.000.
The displayed number needs to fit this format: $999,999,999.000 (note the 3 decimal places, and commas).
It needs to be embedded within the text of the story (that is, with text and/or graphics on either side).
It needs to display a consecutively increasing figure. (e.g. when the page is loaded it starts at $934,474,001.000 and increases at a pace of roughly one dollar per second until it reaches $934,615,658.999).
It needs to commence once the web page is loaded, and be refreshed in the browser when the page is refreshed.
The size needs to be as small as possible to ensure reasonable load times (I want to avoid having the reader waiting for a blank box to load when they're halfway through a sentence!)
Once the number reaches the “end value” it needs to stop, and continue displaying that number.
I want the same piece of code to be useable in three different instances, each with different numerical start/end values, and rates of change (in one the figure increases, one decreases and one does both)
For the first occurrence in the story, it needs to increase at a rate of roughly $1 per second - (with the three decimal points scrolling faster than that).
start value: $934,474,001.000
end value: $934,615,658.999
The second needs to decrease in timed chunks of a set amount (e.g. -$6013.043) every few seconds - while the base balance scrolls upward at the $1 per second rate.
start value: $971,637,963.530
end value: $971,482,700.000
The third needs to decrease at a rate of roughly -$15 per second (with decimals moving at a proportionately faster rate)
start value: $888,587,963.777
end value: $888,310,521.000
The above values are rough indicators only.
Doesn’t have to be in java if a better option exists.
Final product needs to be an HTML compatible script that I can embed within the text of a webpage.
Need open communication during the build process, and would like to see WIPs (just a browser test of the code doing its thing embedded on example text on an otherwise blank html page is fine).
I need to own proprietary rights to the code once finished.
Need a copy of the source code so that I can use it in other applications.
