Overview
We require a small extension to direct a user to a specific store based on their country location, as determined by GeoIP.
Details
Due to complex multi-currency requirements, we have created two websites - one for the US and one for Canada (abbreviation CAD). Each website has multiple EQUIVALENT stores. What this means is that for each US store, there is a corresponding CAD store - the store view codes are marked appropriately by their website code, then their store view code. EG - us_store1, cad_store1.
Technical Requirements
In our interface (and marketing, eg Google AdWords) we would like to link to a url like this: http://www.domain.com/store1/.
Magento's default behaviour (IF THE SYSTEM > CONFIG OPTION CALLED 'ADD STORE CODE TO URLS' IS TURNED ON) is to direct the visitor to the store code contained after the BASE URL (in this case "store1").
We need to modify this behaviour and change the parsed store code to cad_store1 (for Canada) or us_store1 (for all other countries).
NOTE: the code should NOT redirect the user - it should merely change the store code that Magento is using to deliver products/content.
Only bid of this project if you are:
a) intimately familiar with Magento's technical complexities
