We are looking for an experienced person to build an access database as per our specifications.
We would like to see your portfolio to understand you background and coding style. Once the database goes live it will be supported in-house, though the programmer might be contacted to fix bug/apply updates.
Database structure and business logics have already been designed and we will provide detailed database design to candidates who pass initial screening. We are expecting these candidates to look at the design and provide us with the maximum time required for development as we are operating under tough deadlines.
According to the design, database will have around 15 tables, 10 forms and 10 reports. However, we are flexible for the programmer to alter it if necessary. If requested we are happy to provide database structure in MS Access file that was created during design stage.
The forms are simple (browse to files, standard controls (combobox, listbox, textbox, buttons), most of forms based on one table, very few – on 2 or 3 tables). The most challenging part with form is disabling edit/delete buttons to enforce data integrity.
The database will perform quite complex data manipulations. The complex logic has been extensively described in the database design documentation.
The database must:
- Be written in MS Access 2010 and be backward compatible with MS Access 2007
- Consist of 2 parts
--MS Access front end for all forms, reports and business logic
--MS Access back end for tables
- Support transactions model
- The code must be well structured and documented
- import data from external data sources (CSV and Excel files)
- export data into Excel templates
- send zipped files via SMTP
- perform data processing as per specified logic
