The aim of this android application is to bring accumulated spatial knowledge of coffeehouses to the users’ fingertips. The application appeals to both consumers and the coffeehouse businesses. For this project, we have selected Starbucks to be our targeted coffeehouse business and their consumers to be our targeted users. Besides spatial knowledge, the application also aims to bring convenience to the user by helping them make better drink choices and guiding them to the destination and improve work productivity and efficiency for the business.
Users can make an e-order and have them ready for collection upon arrival through the application. This eliminates long queues and users can make large drink orders and have them ready without long waits. This helps in staff productivity and increases work efficiency. Users can choose from an online menu and check out with 2 payment options of Cash or Credit and thereafter be issued a unique confirmation number to be presented upon collection. For users who ‘Just wants a drink’, they can make better drink choices now through drink recommendations based on drink popularity in the application. When a recommended drink is selected, more information such as the price or promotion will be shown. Both functions include direction options showing ‘Route me to the nearest Starbucks’ from their current location, and a routing will be done for the user to make their way to get the particular drink. Besides routing, users can buffer from a point for all Starbucks outlets within a selected buffer region.
When orders are taken through the application, data will also be collected as census information for the business. Through the data, business analysis such as Drink menu revision or Information on generated revenue per Drink can be done. This helps in wise decision making and business projections.
