We need a competent developer to build an Android application. The app will be a complete media based app (similar to the CNN app or New York Times app). The app will need to allow users to build profiles and become members of a community. The app will need to allow members to post comments at the end of the newspaper articles, allow other members to read these comments as well as give the comments a thumbs up or thumbs down rating. The users/subscribers shall be able to build a "playlist" of articles that they want to read later, that way they do not have to go looking for the articles later. The users should also be able to go in and define categories of articles they want to hear based upon key word searches (for instance, they tell us to send them all articles with the word "obama" in the title of the article and we then automatically send them the article. The app needs to be able to notify the user that they have a new article waiting on them. The app will allow the users to use a "preferences" tab to change and maintain the keyword searches as well as tell us what sports teams they want to follow and see articles for. The app should allow one user to 'follow" all the comments left by another use if they so desire. The app should allow users to forward the articles via twitter, e-mail, facebook, etc. The app will need to be able to sort the news by category on the main screen (world news, local news, sports, entertainment, etc)....again pull up the cnn or NY Times app for the basic idea of how the app should look. The user profile portion will be very critical, the app needs to be able to capture data from the user to help us better serve their needs. The app needs to have GPS capability so it can deliver "local" news based upon where you are located or based upon a zip code you enter under your user settings. A person does not have to have an account to use the app but if they want to use certain features the app will have a pop-up that tells them "to use this feature you must have an account, would you like to set up an accout now?" If they said yes, it would walk them through screens to set up new account, screen names, upload a picture to go with screen name, zip code, male or femal and age. It would also then walk you through setting up some of your key searches, so as do you want to follow any specific sports teams, follow politics, etc. The set up screen will probably go through a dozen screens asking a variety of questions so we can better understand the users likes and dislikes. Also, if the user wishes the app should let him sign in using a facebook, twitter, etc account. The app should be able to sort through all the current articles we have and do keyword searches to determine if we have any new articles that user wants to read, if we do he gets a notification on his phone....either a test message or a small icon pops up in the upper left hand corner of his phone. the user can pick in their settings how to get the notifications. The app should be able to support the articles being uploaded. We think the app needs someone who can spend 30 days on it. We have some of the basics of the app already developed, we will share this information with you. We have the articles being on the app already working but need someone that can put some wow factor into the appearance of it as well as build all the user profile, searching capabilities, ability to comment on news articles, etc.
