I have a commercial web site. I want a simple android app that will connect to my web site. I downloaded a developer kit and created a webview app that does that, but it needs tweeking (see required features below), plus it needs icon graphics for different sized android devices and apparently publishing it at the Play Store requires even more learning (PGP signing). I want to make it available on my home page and through the store.
It would be great if you are skilled at graphic design as well as code because I need android icons for the app and have no idea.
Here's the deal, two apps:
1. connects to http:/www.nic.com/whois, this is an advanced whois server that queries all the top level domain whois servers and returns responses. If a name you search is not registered it forwards you to nic's registration page and suggests that you purchase the domain name.
2. nic outsources the actual domain registration, however their server detects mobile devices and "redirects" to a mobile optimized web site. Our whois detects if a domain is available and passes the name on in the URL to the registration page - which if you are on a desktop browser correctly serves up a registration page with the domain that you searched for already filled in. Somehow the substitution of the mobile site does not accept the domain name so the customer sees a blank registration form. Conversions are very low from mobile devices. I would like this app to stay on the normal site, i.e. somehow not identify itself as a mobile device and be redirected to the mobile site. I don;t know if this is easy or not.I have very little control over how the other company configures their web site suite (desktop/mobile) because they are a giant.
3. I need attractive icons for all sized device screens. Probably have more tablets than phones but more and more traffic is mobile.
This could be a stripped down version of one. It connects to http://www.nic.com. It is irrelevant if it switches to the mobile site on click through of pages. It is really just a bookmark for mobile device users to reach my business. For existing customers who want to be able to login or purchase from their mobile devices. It could be app one with a lot of code deleted. Again I need icons and publishing assistance.
I'm not in a terrible hurry. Cost is not a big factor but I don't want to be ripped off. The app will probably be good for me so I want it to be fair for you also, I might need some explanation, I want to have the certificate for publishing and the rights to modify the apps in the future if need be. Someonw has pretty much done App two before http://www.appbrain.com/browse/dev/Fagan+Media app is called Domain Name.
