I am going to try to write in very general terms so as to not give away any of the proprietary info on the project we are actually working on.
In the future, once proper NDAs are signed I can give you much more in depth information in hopes that you become a more integral part of our ongoing efforts to develop this project.
So for now, let’s assume we are talking about a News portal in which we are giving our members an Alert whenever a story breaks that matches a pre-determined set of alert keywords as defined by our end user.
So here is the workflow of what our user does to setup his Alerts, and the workflow of what we do as a service once we find a “match” among the predetermined set of rules set up by the user.
So, what we offer is a real-time Alert service that works in the following manner:
Search Criteria Setup using an online Webform:
1. A member of our site (after paying to become a member) goes to his “Setup Page” to set up all of the parameters of the events he will “Watch” for. The user is able to select from a variety of various News Sources such as CNN, CNBC, and TechCrunch etc.
2. After selecting (using radio buttons) various news sites the user can then choose from various categories that are available across all of the sites such as Technology, Entertainment, Food & Dining etc.
3. Then, as final search criteria, the user can input a list of custom search “keywords” for our system to “Watch”.
All of this data is stored in a DB for each user who signs up as a member of the site.
From our Admin side, we are watching News Sites and MANUALLY inputting breaking stories into another Administration Web form. Eventually this will be dome automatically (in a future version)
For this version we will input the news story into a form with one major text input box for the story with a row of radio buttons on the side of the textbox. Each Radio button coincides with a different news Provider like CNN, MSNBC etc.
Below the txt box are additional boxes that can be checked for categories (tags) as well as a row of ten custom search word boxes. When an Admin hits Submit on the form, the newstory is sent to the DB with all of the appropriate coinciding search criteria.
When a match is found at any point as we are submitting these new breaking stories, we alert specific users wherein we find a match. We send them an SMS txt alerting them to a match in our database.
Instead of sending them a standard SMS txt that comes in along all there other personal txts…we wanted them to run our client app and keep it on during the day to “watch” for incoming alerts that are PUSHED out to our own app.
