I am looking to make an interactive sports fantasy drafting application.
The idea of the app is to have 8-14 people in a room together with their iPads. Each iPad (or Manager) would submit picks to the commissioner (in same room with iPad and separate commissioner controls). The commissioner would have to approve each pick (an override could be allowed to auto approve each pick, to be turned on or off by the acting commissioner). Each pick then would be shown through AirPlay Mirroring on a TV or Projector of choice to a display similar to that of the NFL or NBA draft (all picks for that round shown at once).
When the app is launched the user would select "Manager" or "Commissioner" (Commissioner would require a password set by us).
The manager interface would have the following sections:
Players (a list of all active players from that sport that is sortable by all, available, taken, position played // also would have searchable field)
- players field is where the draft pick would be submitted from, find a player, select, tap once to highlight, tap twice to draft
Keepers (a list, preset by commissioner, of players that have been retained from the previous years teams)
Team Needs (an intuitive guide on what players are available in the draft, and what the team needs to fill the roster)
Chat (a closed circuit chat, allowing each team to quietly communicate during the draft to negotiate trades during draft)
The commissioners interface would consist of everything the managers does as well as control the draft experience
In addition to the manager tools the commissioner will have a "draft board"
The Draft Board will be mirrored to the Apple TV. In the final build it would have 3-4 different screens but in the Alpha version it will just have a list of picks for the round (see NBA draft photo), and an "ESPN: bottom line" style ticker that would show the draft picks in order by round then pick scrolling.
Once draft is complete it will give the commissioner the ability to mail out the results to himself for league upload.
The interface would need to pull a list of players from Yahoo!, ESPN, CBS Sports (or a local host from our website) to get up-to-date player rankings.
