- Medical Students
- Improve presentation skills
- Provide educational content for year 3/finals OSCEs/MRCP
- Make note taking/summarizing findings in clinical scenarios simpler
The main goal of the app is to improve the user’s presentation skills. The app will contain a bank of standardized scenarios commonly encountered in exams/real life at each level from year 3, medical finals and MRCP (e.g. aortic stenosis, parkinson’s disease). In addition the app will contain a customizable history/examination proforma for each system (e.g. proforma for neuro or abdo history/exam) into which the user enters relevant patient data. A prompt for useful questions/actions is encountered to aid the user throughout the case and the end product is a simple summary of the patient.
Example 1 (standard): Patient with chest pain → select chest pain proforma → useful questions prompt → enter relevant patient data (age 88, name JS)→follow question path and select relevant option (i.e. radiation yes/no)→summary generated after all variables entered (88 yo JS, background history of HTN, presented with 2hr hx of chest pain….)
Example 2 (customized history, if not available in the set scenarios): Patient presents with neck pain → select system or select custom option → follow proforma for SOCRATES → enter any additional details → system may attempt to aid by asking relevant questions for ddx → summary generated → 28 y.o female presented with 5 hour, sharp intermittent pain in the neck with radiated to….
Example 3: Set presentations for common conditions. Aortic stenosis/Mitral regurgitation/Parkinson’s. In this option, the user selects a case from the app and it presents a history and clinical findings.
1. Users can review cases then attempt a presentation when they are confident about a case.
Example 1: Picture of peripheral signs/chest signs with sounds/relevant findings→ user then presents what they have seen/heard and records their presentation. Presentation file can be then compared to a model answer.
2. Viva section with each of the standard cases with answers (aortic stenosis)
Example 2: what is the management of aortic stenosis? What are the causes of AS?
