We are looking for a freelancer to create an iPad app to download, organise and view non-public religious books (Arabic). The app will also play mp3 audiobooks for the matching text. The books are actually religious song books and each page is a song, hence the attached audio for each page/song.
In functionality terms the app is very much like iBooks, with a bookcase of books, the main extra feature is the matching audio playback for each page.
Basic functionality is as such:
When the app is opened the user can see all the books in their collection, laid out like iBooks with front cover showing. Books can be added, some are free and some via in-app purchase, These will not be through iBooks store but normal In-app purchase, free books can be added via any method upto the developer.
When any book is clicked the viewer opens. The book has a few index pages at the start with bookmark links to the content in the book. Book can be browsed or accessed via index. Each page in the book also has the relevant audio file which can be played via play button.
Attached is more detailed information on the app layout and functions
We will provide ready indexed PDFs, and also a table of which audio file is linked to which page. However we would prefer an Arabic reading developer so we can send un-indexed PDFs and developer can hyperlink from index to relevant page.
Example book can be viewed from below link (not bookmarked yet, but Arabic readers can read index and page numbers) 80mb file size
Libraries for PDF viewing are available. Examples at http://www.vfr.org/ and also the Quartz2D. UIWebView alone may not handle all the functions needed (mainly indexing) as the indexed PDFs wll not migrate to iPad, the hyperlinks will need to be redone.
We will give full assistance to developer on Skype/GTalk and work with the developer to get this finished.
We will choose supplier with balance of low price and good feedback, we will consider people with low feedback if the price is right also. Users who can read Arabic will also be favored as the books are in Arabic so would make life slightly easier.
