We require a developer with C# and .NET experience to add additional functionality to our existing software product. The additional work will require building bulk data insert capabilities from CSV files into a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database and the implementation of a What if? scenario component, which will be an extension to existing reporting functionality that will allow the user to generate speculative reports based on arbitrary percentage changes, using existing data in the database.
The What If? component should be implemented via a pop-up box that contains a text box allowing the user to enter a title (e.g. “2010 Reduced by 5%”) and a drop down box listing the available years that have valid source data. When a year is selected, there should be a list of data sources associated with that year; next to each data source there should be a slider bar ranging from -50% to +50%. The user can reduce or increase the values for each source with the slider bar and click Update. This will then place a new entry in the existing report period dropdown menu, with the title as entered by the user. The user will be able to select this as a comparison year. This can be repeated for other comparisons (e.g. “2010 Reduced by 10%”), with each new “year” being added to the list of available years. There is no need to store the speculative years in the database.
We estimate that this work should take around 25 days to complete.
