Need a chained select widget similar to the printer supplies selector on left side of http://www.superwarehouse.com/
I would like there to be two selectors that are tied to WordPress categories. The first selector would, for example, let the user choose a US state (Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado). These would be primary categories in WordPress
The second selector would fill with child category values that show two levels of categories of values in that state, like (if user chose California in first selector):
-- Los Angeles
-- San Francisco
It is important, I think, that the selector values be tied to post categories. The end user of the site will be entering a lot of posts as custom post types that end up needing to be accessed with these selectors.
I have worked a bit with this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/multiple-category-selection-widget/ ... and it gets most of the way there but will display more than two selectors. It generates a separate selector for each secondary category (cities, rivers, mountains).
Perhaps that plugin just needs some tweaking or modification. If not, let me know. It creates a widget that is accessible via CSS for styling, which is is good.
Each selector will need a label. In other words, the user should be able to see:
Select a state: select box one here
Select a place: select box two here with values based on state box
