Looking to design automated testing appliance for set-top boxes and similar devices with IR input and video ( RCA, HDMI, etc) output.
The automated testing appliance will issue a set of preassigned IR commands and will capture multiple diagnostic screens and video samples from various consumer set-top boxes or similar devices. Each captured diagnostic screen will be analyzed using OCR to validate the operating parameters and video quality validation.
First stage of this project (proof of concept and development) is to validate and test a single device. The final product shall be able to perform diagnostics on 20-40 devices simultaneously.
Linux or Windows platform is acceptable. Python is the preferred choose for software but other options can be considered.
Front-end UI should be web-based with user access login privileges (user, admin, etc.)
In scope for the project is the following: platform hardware selection, video capture hardware selection, OCR software selection, IR hardware selection.
The final product should incorporate IR key codes, learning IR key combinations, test definitions, OCR optimization, video quality analysis, store historical test results for future reference.
