I'm seeking some help with setup of a poker web site and related coding, in a Windows environment. I need a versatile, but affordable software developer to design and build a custom web site, DB, associated code, and integrate the site with existing APIs. The first API corresponds to a client-server, flash-based poker software called Poker Mavens. I have a dedicated VMware windows server that will be used as a dev/test environment. I think you'll probably want to install and use mySQL for an accounts and system database to run the web site. This while project should be designed for scalability of web site – because I expect that a large server farm or peer based resources will need to load balance games, eventually.
Would be very helpful if you knew just a little tiny bit about the poker business model (Promotions, affiliates, rake, rakeback). But these concepts can be learned very quickly and on-demand and you don’t need to have Texas Hold’Em experience. Website will integrate with (a) PokerMavens, then relatively soon afterwards will be upgraded with (b) some combination of PokerSource open source code and a modified build of the PokerTH client, most likely. The site will be similar to 'sealswithclubs' (I love you guys) when we start it, so please take a look over there to see a really good example of the basic features this web site will require. This new site is not going to be a direct competitor to SwC or other poker sites. The other guys might be focused on revenue. We will be focused on building a poker system that would provide the fastest, most secure, and most highly configurable, bot-friendly poker system possible. I want to design preventative measures against cheaters who are using multiple simultaneous connections to the same game server in order to increase their odds to win. We will have to add userIDs, email address, IP addresses to a black list, and code the web site to block them from connecting to the server for a period of time.
You'd have to be willing to become somewhat knowledgeable about how Bitcoins and cryptography work to do this project... but you will not need to be an expert on BitCoins or cryptography by any stretch of the imagination. You must speaks excellent English and you should be a citizen of the USA, or live in a country where you could be extradited if I catch you putting backdoors in this system... or if the Feds or my book keepers come knocking on my door, asking about shady transfers, embezzlement, etc. Let me be honest - to the best of my knowledge - There is no risk to you concerning the legality of online poker, but I suggest that you have good passwords and secure systems if you are going to develop software for online poker. They are a target for attacks.
Since I'm starting with a simple solution, later on I will open more solicitations later to build a super fast server and client which will replace the components of the phase 1 system. Because the components may need changed in a few months, I would like to have the architecture to be constructed in a logical manner (not just patchwork) using rational structure, reasonable comments and parameters to support an evolving solution. Some work eventually will involve coding RTP using C or Java - So I have a strong preference for somebody with the capability to write real-time communications software such as a custom bit torrent clients, Tor micro-transaction sites, high volume transaction servers, etc. The poker server and client need to be extremely fast for this website to be successful. I also want to use some basic encryption, like the openSSL library.
Let me know what you think you might charge for the job (Make a simple site like Poker Mavens, similar to Seals, with a mind on scalability, security, and enhancements) I'll provide the appropriate licenses, domains, DNS, server, basics, etc.
