I'm building a weather website based on the National Weather Service's RESTful service. You can find more info about it here: http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/xml/rest.php
I need to build a front end that lets a user input their City, ST or zip code and get their weather based on it. Weather would be condition, icon, temp, percent chance of rain, and 7 day outlook.
I have pretty much everything but the search function worked out. NWS uses lat/long for their data, so when a user inputs City, ST or zip code, it has to convert to lat/long. I found a mysql database dump that will work for my purposes for the conversion, but I'm not enough of a programmer to get it working. Here's the database: http://zips.sourceforge.net/
I've seen all this working. The website http://w w w. thef u c k i n gweather.c o m has a search function that would work perfect for me. I also want to output a randomized phrase based on the weather just like that site.
I'm looking for someone to reverse-build w w w. thef u c k i n gweather.c o m for me using the NWS REST service and the zip code database that I linked to. I would need both the search function and the random phrase generator based on the weather to work. But I would also need it to be more flexible so that I could include more of the available data from the national weather service as needed. I'm not worried about formatting. If you think this would be possible, please let me know what your time frame and price would be.
