I would like an app that runs in the menu bar of my Mac that will allow me to send text to a MySQL database located on localhost. An example of an app running in the menu bar can be found at http://blog.shpakovski.com/2011/07/cocoa-popup-window-in-status-bar.html . In fact, since this example is licensed under the BSD license, I would be fine with you using this as a starting point for the entire app.
The app would have an extremely simple front-end: A text field to type into, a button to post the text to the MySQL database, and a simple status depicting success or failure. The search bar found in the example app is not needed.
This project does NOT require setting up MySQL or any databases for me. I can do that on my own. I need only to post data to the database in some way. If the app requires a PHP page to connect to the database, I can write that on my own as well (as long as data is sent via GET).
Access to the source code to the finished app would be required. This is basically just so that I can update database names and paths within the app if I should ever move required files around on my computer.
The app would not need to retrieve data from the MySQL database except for a success/failure message after posting.
