We would like to create a website with the standard features present in the major social networks (see Bebo, Piczo, Hi5, MySpace, Facebook for reference/comparison) but geared more towards professional networking:
Registration page containing customizable selectable categories
My Profile page (ability to customize using easy homepage editor like in Piczo), display contacts as thumbnails, personal message board (internal messaging with email notifications)
Ability to designate some of your contacts as private (not accessible to others)
Dynamic (draggable) graphical tree displaying your network of contacts
Video (various categories)
Music (various categories)
Ability to easily customize site into other languages
Statistics to track which contacts have looked at your home page
Ability to easily incorporate Google Adsense into pages
We use Linux/Apache/MySQL and have a preference for Coldfusion 8 over PHP, although we are open to other suggestions if we can easily customize the resulting layouts.
In addition to the standard website back-end, you will create a pleasant-looking front-end (with some flash elements) which we can easily customize (should display thumbnails of newest members)
You should preferably have prior experience developing professional/social networking websites and be familiar with LinkedIn, Xing, FaceBook, MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, Piczo.
