This is a user interface for an industrial heating control system. We require a programmer or programmer team with experience in writing SCADA or process control software. Especially the programmer should have experience communicating with low level devices like PLCs, microprocessor based IO, etc.
Our interface software allows the user to control heating on a large wind turbine blade mould. There are up to 180 heating channels, each of which has a multi step ramp/soak heating program. The software provides a way for the operator to see the status of those heating channels; e.g. the current temperature and output heating power level on each channel.
The actual heating is done by our custom designed heating controller PCB, each of which can control 6 channels. The normal system involves a computer connected with 1-30 boxes using a Modbus TCP network.
In addition to displaying the current situation and allowing the user to stop/start/fast forward/rewind the heating cycle, the software must also log the temperatures to a data file, and permit the data to be searched and a report to be generated at a later time.
At the moment we already have software that was developed for us in VB, but it is full of serious bugs and we do not have the source code. We want to use that software as a functional prototype, and reprogram it completely in either Delphi or C#. For such high reliability industrial applications, we think VB was a very poor choice.
Further details, including a functioning version of the old program and some of our heating control hardware, can be provided to the programmer.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
