We wish to create an integrated, secure, extensible intranet home page for our sales agents, including reorganization and access to various existing documents, sites and interactive pages; a calendar/contact manager filtered by login credentials; a front end to our existing IMAP capable e-mail server accounts; and a browser-based terminal emulator (WY60-25) to access our legacy SCO Unix operations software.
Ease of handling is a must, as well as an organized and professional looking motif.
Users (sales agents) access our intranet via various web-browser software (IE, Netscape, Firefox, etc.) connected remotely through the Internet, as such the final product must be browser independent.
Our current intranet is riddled with pop-up windows, making it difficult to navigate. Content management isn't particularly easy either.
Ease of communication with the coder is a must for us, a good project plan, frequent progress updates, and reasonably quick responses to questions. We would prefer to work closely within the RentACoder guidelines, since we and the coder have both chosen to use this format for the project.
We are leaning toward .NET Framework technology for this project, but are open to suggestions. We would prefer to keep MySQL as the database backend.
