Currently looking for quotes on setting up an _additional_ MySQL table in my existing database that would relate to current/existing tables. Need help with the field formatting.
Would then need development of a query to pull information from this table as well as existing tables for custom .php data report page. This will probably require specific functions, etc. to be programmed into the .php page.
I currently run a website for a circuit that organizes competitions between high school groups. Currently the scheduling is done through excel, exported to HTML, cleaned up and uploaded. Everytime there is a change to the list of groups competing at any given competition, it's a multi-step process to update, because the scheduling is set up by 'competing class' for a specific date. Each 'competing class' has a different time interval in which they are allowed to compete (class1=5 minutes, class2=6 minutes, etc.). Excel is smart enough to use formulas, but I do not know how to do calculations of TIME in MySQL. All existing data (group name, class, etc.) can and will be setup prior to any development of this new table. Theoretically, the new table would be relatively simple. The query & PHP page is where I get in over my head. This would set a schedule of all groups at CONTEST_A sorted by CLASS, working either **_backwards or forwards_** from ENDTIME (10pm for example) or STARTTIME (3pm example).
examples of current schedules & table setup:
existing schedule - working backwards from END TIME: [url removed, login to view]
existing EXCEL schedule - working forwards from START TIME: [url removed, login to view]
existing tables & new table setup: see Excel download above...
