You have chosen to sponsor your bid up to a maximum amount of .
I have been using the "dvddb" system with a little customisation to share and to keep track of DVDs among a small group of people. It is really a simple but great system implemented in PHP/MySQL with a web-based interface for several admin tasks. Unfortunately, the system only keeps the catalogue info (who owns what DVDs) and circulation information (who is borrowing what DVD).
NOTE: If you want to bid this project, you SHOULD explore http://globalmegacorp.org/dvddb/ (source code and a demo is also available there) FIRST. You can download and install it on your computer and try it out first or try the demo online. I will NOT respond to Robotic and Semi-Robotic (time-wasting) responses I may receive soon after hitting the submit button. However, I will be tolerant to newbies if they carefully read, understand and bid for this project with a proper attitude.
What I need: I want an EXTENDED version of DVDDB that can
1. deal with e-book, CD/music track, DVD or any other electronic media
2. also store the media itself in the database (such as pdf, avi, mp3 file)
3. have a public/private option to allow people to share things with others in public or keep things there in the database for their own exclusive use.
[A public/private bit in the original schema will do the job but, security is an issue here if using fixed URL. Please propose your approach.]
4. import catalog information (metadata, like title, author, album, track info, etc.) by using a simple interface that take ISBN or Bar Code as input and extract the data from relevant database.
[For example, for books, I type the ISBN and get the title/author/publisher info from Library of Congress using Z39.50 protocol, and then edit! Well, you can use any suitable API/protocol you like for this feature!]
If you reuse DVDDB codes and use PHP/MySQL, I believe it would not take a lot of time and effort to finish this job. Time could be flexible but I want it to be done with a tight budget since it doesn't generate revenue for me. It is also OK if you develop from the scratch and use a development tool of your preference/choice. However, I have a PRO plan Linux hosting arrangement with ipower.com, and the proposed system needs to be DEPLOYED on IPOWER!!
In conclusion. I want an Extended version of DVDDB that roughly means that the system should include "all the current features available in dvddb (including easy-to-use web-based admin interface) plus the above 4 features (also need to provide easy-to-use web-based interface)!
Looking forward to hearing from you guys!
