I use photoshop to create templates for a photobooth. Currently my templates take ages to build as I have to create a blank graphic at my printers resolution and dpi. Create transparent areas where the photos go and map the co-ordinates (resolution co-ordinate) then save it as a png, with the transparency. If I change printer I will have to remap all my templates onto a new png, and re-count all the co-ordinates of each template.
I still think a layout generator with automated co-ordinate mapper would be great (The generator will have template creation that produces all 20 of the following specific to each persons print resolution ) ( http://www.darkroomex.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=56 )
You need to have the following options.
Enter Printer resolution. (Resolutions differ for 6x4" 5x7" 8x6" and so on) If it can detect the current default printer all these settings could be pulled automatically
Select Landscape or Portrait.
Enter Printer DPI.
Then creates a sample director of the all the above, readily editable plain white with transparency boxes png files. (see linked template_pack)
These all come once produced with co-ordinate layouts so are ready to use. This is the xy intersection of all corners of the transparency windows, and their pixel dimensions width and height. The co-ordinates will represent the landscape of portrait option chosen.
There needs to be a varyable option for a person to choose each of the sides to offer a bleed option. This would be form 1-100pixels, with the templates produced neatly within, and spaced as in the template pack. This allows to produce templates with a bleed option for printing.
If done web based, it will create a webpage screen with all the 20 options in columns, a column for each resolution print size entered with a little graphic of each template so they can download the created png. As software it should go ahead and just create all of the layouts into the folder that the exe files resides in a new folder titled with the size/resolution of the print.
If this can be done in php or any other web coding so I can host it online on my own site.
I'd like to be able to access it anywhere.
If it can be made as an exe file that would also be good. Either way I would also be wanting the source code of the application/website for future development.
See present layout creator http://www.breezesys.com/DSLRRemotePro/help/index.html?photobooth_setup.htm within the program for an understanding of what is required.
