I need to count words from multiple file formats (see below) after uploaded to my web server.I need it to run on linux, PHP (My server runs on Ubuntu 9.04)
If you can write or have this feature please let me know
I need the following formats support:
.doc
.xls
.docx
.xlsx
.ppt
.pptx
.txt
.odt
.odp
.ods
.html
.xml
*In spreadsheets and presentations all sheets and all slides should be counted.
In Asian languages each character should be counted as a single word
please note that it should work with multibite languages

I've plenty of experience with data processing and transformation and can envision a system to translate your proprietary document formats (.doc) to text, that's no problem. The issue is that depending on the format of the text, the font size, the margins, etc. the number of lines could vary wildly depending on how you choose to look at the file. If you predefine a line as being no more than 100 characters you could work around it, but your accuracy will surely be impacted.
